I left my heart... in Ubud Bali

Indomie Instant Noodle Chicken Flavour: $0.80
Private villa: $132/nite
Slurping hot bouncy indomie while paddling in the pool: Priceless...

It was worth every rupiah. This is the place of ultimate pampering and relaxation. So here is my story:
Me and me dear hubby needs a short getaway.I booked the flight online during a mad SIA promotion, S$98 per person! Then I searched for place to stay. Hotels, resorts yada yada, they looked like typical hotel rooms. But one special feature about Bali is that it boasts many many beauuuuutiful villas. So I thought, since all the way there, might as well experience the villa living. I booked two. First two nights were spent at Villa Wanakerta (see pic of semi-outdoor bathtub) and the consecutive 2 nights at Nefatari Villas which comes with a private pool ( see pic ). And shopping is terrific because I personally like wooden, and stone-carving crafts, which were plentiful there...streets and streets of them, from balinese art, indonesian batik to essential oils and spa sets. The Balinese are one of the kindest people I've met. From the moment you arrive at the villa, the staff is at your service day and night. They take you to makan, shopping or wherever you request in Ubud area, at ANY time.
We also managed to sneak in a must-do activity in Bali...we were whisked off to a nice cozy spa salon where we were massaged, rubbed, oiled, masked, scrubbed and finally soaked in a tub of warm water with flower petals all around.... together.

There is nowhere else I'd like to go... and I think it is a lifetime experience. Just once is enough to leave my heart in Bali.

  2. Went on 16th Nov this year. December most dangerous period. And no one dares to say it is safe anymore after the unexpected 2nd bombing. Just avoid the 'happening' ang moh areas like Kuta and Seminyak. We went to Ubud, the kawasan pedalaman sawah padi where it is more peaceful, cultural and where the real Bali is I feel. Grreat place for honeymoon!
